Visioneca-Festival of Experimental
By: Bob Cotton SouthamptonVisioneca is a Festival of Experimental Film and Media based at Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight (near the site of the great IOW Pop Festival of 1970, with Hendrix, Doors, Joni Mitchell, etc). We will be featuring motion-picture-based experimental works by over 60 artists from 17 different countires. This work features the use of the motion picture in Films, promos, performances, installations, apps, augmented realities, projection mapping, special effects, realtime computer graphics, html 5, websisodic drama, animation and interactice documentary. We will also be featuring seminars, informal illustrated talks, and special screenings of work in progress by leading artists and directors.
Visioneca is important not least because it showcases work rarely seen on the Isle of Wight, rarely featured in the UK film festival scene, and never seen before in such a beautiful location, still redolent with memories of great music festivals, of poets, painters and writers like Tennyson, George Frederick Watts, William Makepiece Thackeray and Lewis Carroll, and the great photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. Help us to fund some badly need equipment for this festival. The projector and LCD screen we need will be used in a year-around cycle of Visioneca Workshops in local schools like Medina College, Carisbrooke College, Ryde Academy and Cowes EWnterprise College. We will be evangelising new media arts to the digital generation who are tuaght nothing about them in school. Help us out!
