Setting sail for Buxton
By: Hannah Wood ManchesterOur project aims to take our exciting adaptation of HMS Pinafore to Buxton, Derbyshire, to take part in the annual Gilbert and Sullivan festival.
We have been asked to take part in this prestigious festival after our well received performance of the show in the RNCM opera theatre in Manchester in March. However we do not yet have the funding to adapt our set for the new stage, re-hire costumes or transport our lovely cast and crew to the venue.
As a student society (MUGSS), this would be a fantastic opportunity for amateur performers to 'go on tour' and see what it really feels like to be part of a professional opera company!
If you pledge to our project you could be helping us to cover the cost of many different things, from the hiring of Sir Joseph Porter's hat to a blast of pyrotechnic firing out of our home-made cannons!
We hope to see you on the 8th of August for our matinee performance in the Pavilliion Arts Centre in Buxton.
Thank you!
