How it works

Usually booking ski weekends is quite difficult. You've got to find friends who want to go, organise everything and then find somewhere that will take you for a weekend..

Secret Weekend Ski Club is for people who like to go skiing/boarding a lot.. and want to be able to go when they want without having to organise everything.

Where this started

The founder, Duncan. Runs a large sailing meetup in London between the members of the meetup, friends and newcomers there's been a lot of demand to organise easy ski weekends.

This is an easy, cost effective way to do it and means that no matter what weekend people come on they'll always have a good group to ski/board and hang out with.

Our target

If we hit our target then we'll have enough people to make this viable for this season. In two weeks we need to pay the deposit for the clubhouse.. If we don't hit our target then we can't take on the risk of signing on your dream mountain getaway.

The resort

Morzine is the largest of the villages in the French side of the Portes du Soleil ski area which is the largest in Europe with 640km of pistes. The town fits lively skiers and the more serious flavours alike.

Getting there

Morzine is 1h15 from Geneva airport which is host to EasyJet and other low cost carriers that operate out of all major London and UK airports. As you can arrive from Thursday and stay until Tuesday you can benefit from cheaper mid-week flights.

Ski Area

The ski area covers all ability levels from beginner through to the more advanced and freestyle skiers & boarders. With 640km of pistes, 33 Green, 119 Blue, 104 Reds, 24 Blacks & 10 snowparks you won't get bored..

The Clubhouse

• Ski in and only a 5 minute walk from the main bubble

Getting your head down

The clubhouse sleeps 10-12 people in five bedrooms. Three twin/doubles and two large tripples that both have three double beds to make up for the extra person sharing.

Which room will I get?

Room allocation will depend on who's visiting the clubhouse that weekend. If you are coming with a partner then you can request a room together. We expect that the majority of our members will come on their own.

Relaxing

The chalet comes with a full size hot tub jacuzzi, sauna and large lounge kitchen to relax in. There's also TV with UK Sky and we're going to bring a Wii console and some board games.

Calendar & Weekends

We know that every person is different so we're going to run a series of themed weekends to suit different ski abilities and the different types of people who hit the mountain.

Themed Weekends

• Beginners, Greens & Blues - For beginners and those that enjoy the tree runs..
• First-Lift Last-Run - For those that want to really ski and relax in the evening
• Party weekend - Fast runs, boozy nights and plenty of jager
• Specialist: Off Piste Clinic - For intermediate/advanced skiers that want to progress
• Specialist: Boarders lodge - Boarders only

Apres & activities

We know each weekend theme will attract a different crowd of people and so will be making sure that you get the most of the resort.

Morzine has a great nightlife but is also home to one of France's top Ice Hockey teams, a new swiming pool and has full complement of shopping and other acitivities.

Membership levels

We have different member packages available from 2 weekends to 5 weekends for the season. The more weekends you go for the lower the cost.

Packages

1 Weeekend - £300
2 Weekends – £575 = £287.50/weekend
3 Weekends – £800 = £266.67/weekend
4 Weekends – £975 = £243/weekend

All being well and assuming we have enough members the full amounts will be due by end of November.

Premium weekends – surcharge: £50

For new year and the easter weekend we anticipate higher demand and have therefore decided to add a surcharge for fairness.

30th 31st March  Basscamp Festival/April Bank Holiday

Reserving weekends

When you pledge your deposit you can email us your preference for your first weekend. Availability is shown on our site here.

Changing weekends

We're not going to sell 100% of the capacity so where you can't make a weekend because of a work/life clash, if there's availabilty on another future weekend you can rebook at no cost.

Check in/Check out

You can arrive any time/day from Thursday at 2pm and stay until the following Tuesday evening at 9pm. There is no difference in cost if you stay for 3, 4 or 5 days. Once you've got your weekend reserved it's like dropping into your own place.

• Apres & other acitivities
• Ski lessons

What we're unsure about: evening meals

Some people have asked if we do half board. Alex who is a professionally trained chef could cook up some nice good home cooked meals with some cake and cheese for dessert. We could do this for an extra £20/person/weekend inc. some wine. Let us know are interested and we'll do it

If we don't hit our target

Should we not hit the target we simply won't run Secret Weekend Ski Club, the dream will be over.. You'll get all you deposit back less a little fee from paypal.
