Hello Readers! I am Nilay K. Srivastava from Dehradun, INDIA. I am an undergraduate engineering student pursuing a bachelor's in Automotive Design Engineering from UPES Dehradun, INDIA.

MY GOAL

I am doing this independent project that is aimed at designing and prototyping a Power Supply system that would be used for evaluation, prototyping and testing of electric vehicle equipment. This project is being undertaken entirely all by me right from the scratch in my city Dehradun. The institute where I'm doing my engineering from unfortunately does NOT support or sponsor independent projects like mine. My campaign is aimed at getting financial aid for being able to continue this project and completing it successfully on time.

Your Contribution to a Cleaner, Greener Tomorrow!
I am an aspiring Automotive Design Engineer. I believe that in an age of intensive industrial development all over the world especially in the developing countries like India and many others fossil fuels are depleting at a very rapid rate and an impending problem of global Climate change.

This is not a new statement! Perhaps this is one of those things which we hear about almost daily on News Channels , read about on the Internet but if we honestly ask ourselves as to how much are we doing in actual to prevent our mother nature, I think that would be something that’s almost negligible to be even mentioned.

Of Course you may think that such initiatives take off only on a mass level of participation. But in fact, if we as responsible human beings were to give back to planet earth I think this project is one of those opportunities to do so.

Starting a project like this one which involves intensive R&D takes a huge amount of investment, only because it is being done right from the scratch, not entirely for the first time but in an entirely different manner and for a different purpose that is to fast track the overall product development time in today’s industry. Moreover, this initiative would help budding entrepreneurs who often face huge hassles in the formative stages of their projects to procure equipment for carrying out R&D.

Not just the R&D part, raising capital for starting up a manufacturing unit for the same also requires investment, however that is not the aim of this campaign, however excursions that would be needed to be undertaken would require aid, especially since prospective manufacturers of such sophisticated equipment exist outside India only.

For your valuable contribution you will aid me in an initiative and help create a technology which would fast track the Product development life cycle of Automobiles using Hybrid vehicle technology or using electric power as the sole prime mover. Since the technology is aimed to be low cost and high productivity it would encourage development of the Hybrid and EV (Electric Vehicle) Technology and knowhow at a greater pace. And like I mentioned above by contributing for this Project, you would certainly have done your bit for a Greener Planet!

Where would your contribution go and how will it be utilized?
The aid that I would receive from this campaign would be used entirely for the purchase of necessary  equipment like Oscilloscopes, Measuring Instruments like Power analyzers, Bench top Multimeters, Certain basic small scale PCB fabrication equipment(Soldering station, PCB drill) and last but not the least a good computer and the requisite software for carrying out Circuit board planning, prototyping and simulation.(As of now I have access only to a battered 9 year old computer that hangs even if using just the internet).

Apart from this during the prototyping stage of the PSU I would need a major chunk of this contribution for getting the parts that would go into the Prototype of the PSU like Capacitors, Resistors, Power Relays, Mosfets, Controller ICs, Microcontrollers and N number of other components.
The parts that would go into the Prototype PSU as a whole are quite expensive as well. The Information display alone for example costs around 300USD alone, and there are thousands of other things that I can't even elaborate here as I might exceed my word limit and even your Patience!! The total rough estimate of the expenditure on this project (R&D and Prototyping of the final product) would not be less than 5000USD. At the end of the day I don't want to design something that’s substandard or low quality, hence I am gathering this amount of money!
I have taken a margin for all the expenses incurred during this project because I feel that one large campaign is far better than holding campaigns again and again repeatedly for months.
