Who are we?
A group of crazy guys who aimed to research, plan and build remote controlled cars, that has never existed before in size, nor in design. This is Mammuth Works.
History / premise
Our team has successfully created the first version of the car. We still have to do more before it fulfills all of our goals, but the feedbacks we’ve received helped us to make changes and get closer to building the car that we always wanted to.
The first Mammuth has a custom made and absolutely unique running gear, shock-absorber, springs, trailing arm, steering mechanism and frame. The only parts left from the base – which was a pocket quad – are the wheels, the engine and the rear axle. We tested the car for more than a year on concrete, dust, mud, rain, in-air and on-the-ground.
The project was very successful. After a lot of testing and many changes we’ve made over the past half year, the car now works reliable. We’ve been on several car shows, where the audience has payed huge interest to our car.
Our aim is to build much more complex cars that resembles reality as closely as possible, but is also solid and reliable. The parts of the cars will be custom made on very precise machines from the plans that we’ve drawn up. The frame of the cars will be assembled by hand.
The first car has gone through many changes and additions, which we would like to avoid in our next cars. In order to do this we are creating a highly-detailed plan for every part of the car.
We aim to grow our product range by making custom made cars and limited series.
Why fund us?
Because you will be the part of the R/C history, hence this will be the largest production R/C car to date. Our passion was always R/C racing and our dream is to build our own cars from scratch. We started this whole project two years ago with the help of three individuals. We built the prototype but it needs a lot of improvements, but our financial possibilities are not endless.
We need your help to finalize the prototype car and start the production!
What would we spend your money for?
We already developed and built more than 150 unique parts for the car, because we are the first ones who build in this scale. We can't go to shops and buy components, we need to plan, build, and test them and then back to the beginning
The Mammuth Servo: to control this beast, we need power...lots of power. We talked through the current servo makers, but even the best is not enough for us. We can't make compromise, we need a special solution. It needs to be fast, it needs to be strong, so we're planned our own worm geared, high performance servo which could be an invidual product. It will have 16.5Nm rotating torque with the speed of 0.25sec / 60 degree. You couldn't find anywhere else a servo like this. It will have a unique telemetry system as well.
For the car we need three servos (one for steering, two for braking). Development and production cost: 5000 GBP
The Mammuth Car Controller: as you can saw in the introduction video the car will have a custom telemetry system to monitor the overall performance with the hundreds of sensors (RPM, speed, temperature, current voltage, fuel level, brake pressure, GPS, accelerometer, camera etc.). We put a small touch screen computer into the car to setup the behaviour of the car (brake balance, abs, traction control, adaptive steering sensitivity).
Also you will be able to monitor these values remotely on any kind of browser through a telemetry center (including iOS, WP7-WP8, Android) and thats not all. You can drive the car with your phone / tablet while you watch the onboard camera image. Unbelievable isn't it? Development and production cost: 3000 GBP
Development and testing cost: track rental, traveling costs, rebuild broken components, integrated circuits, boxes for electronics, advertising costs, etc.
